Hi. I'm Brian. I put pride in being a nerd and a lot of effort in making educational, entertaining and epic videos about science in my home.
I'm just an amateur doing this is in my spare time but I spend a lot of time on each of my videos to make them worth watching. That's why I'm only a monthly uploader - putting quality over quantity. Just subscribe and click the notification bell and you will be notified when I upload a video. I promise it will be worth your time :o)

Power of Plasma Balls Visualized | Don't wear a ring... Jumping won't help!
What happens if you wear a finger ring while touching a plasma globe? What if you jump while touching the plasma globe? Why are the filaments attracted to us? Is grounding - electrical earthing - needed to attract the filaments of the plasma ball?
So many questions to answer but I will give it a try in this video. Luckily, plasma balls are relatively safe sources for high-voltage experiments :)

TRUE YELLOW LASER or not? 25+ years wait over? // Valkyrie 573 donated by Tinker Lasers
Просмотров 393 тыс.28 дней назад
Handheld, yellow lasers do not exist. That is my experience after I last year tried three that were advertised to emit some shade of yellow. None of them looked yellow to me... In this video, I give it another try. Can I fill the yellow gap between red and green with a new laser that should emit a wavelength right between the ones I have tested to be closest to yellow? Is it true yellow? How po...
LASER underpowered by its power supply? | First TTL/PWM Arduino attempt
Просмотров 62 тыс.2 месяца назад
My yellow-green laser module is not even close to performing as advertised. Perhaps because the power supply is less powerful than advertised too? In this video, I max test the power supply and see if it matters. I also build a pulse-width modulator using an Arduino Uno in an attempt to adjust the laser's power output. Will I succeed? MAGNETIC PAINT | Cheaper and easier than Ferrofluid and Ferripaste?
Просмотров 52 тыс.3 месяца назад
Ferrofluid is amazing. I wish everyone could experience it in real life, but it is expensive. Perhaps there is a cheaper alternative in your local store: Magnetic paint! In this video, I test the weird paint and compare it to ferrofluid and my own creation: ferripaste. How well does magnetic paint work in comparison? What are the fluids' strengths and weaknesses? Is one of the disadvantages of ...
Mystery RADIOACTIVE Source | Can we identify it?

Upgrading Fiber Optic Lamps to LASER Brightness!
Просмотров 357 тыс.5 месяцев назад
I like fiber optic lamps but their brightness always disappoints me. They are too dim to really impress me. No matter if it is an old halogen or new LED type. Time to upgrade my two fiber lamps! Make them brighter - much brighter. Will I succeed or is there a limit I overlooked? YELLOW LASERS?!? Finally - after 25+ years of collecting!
Просмотров 1,1 млн6 месяцев назад
Welcome to what may very well be the most informative video on yellow lasers online. Simply because there aren't many yellow lasers around - making videos about them even rarer... After 25 years of collecting lasers, I finally should have some too. Two new colors, supposed to be 561 nm and 591 nm, in the yellow gap between red and green. I will test their color (wavelength in nm) and power outp...

GLOW-IN-THE-DARK: Can you change the color?
Просмотров 29 тыс.8 месяцев назад
I have always been fascinated by glow-in-the-dark items and still am. But is it possible to change the color of the light the pigments glow with at night? For example by changing the light used to charge them - on both wavelengths and spectral bandwidth? And how about changing the temperature of the pigment? Time to find out! I was waiting for the word "Capacitance" to rear its head. And your body mass makes a nice capacitive plate, much more so than a coin.
Try touching it with one hand, with the other hand stretched out as far away as possible, then bring the outstrecthed hand in towards yourself. I guess your legs will still mess things up, but you could always do it on the floor and tuck yourself into a ball as much as possible. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to have some control over how strongly the filaments are attracted to you, as you reach your hand out farther from the ball and increase the voltage drop across yourself.
and you can make a 1-2 cm spark between the wire and the negative side of the hv transformer, 4x bigger than with metal on the glass
I like to place a aluminium cup from a waxine light candle upside down on the globe, making sparks to my finger, burns holes in my finger and feels like electic shock. let friends do it also timing who dares it longer great joy.😅
I did this with tinfoil instead of coins as a kid and zapped myself quite a few times
Capacitance and a relatively large mass. the plasma balls run at a fairly high frequency in the low MHz, there is enough capacitance between the ball and you to make a good sized AC current to flow
Do it on a hot air balloon
Keysight has a few decent oscilloscope's, electroboom use's them on his channel
when i was child about 25 years ago, i covered my plasma ball with aluminium foil. It gave nice burns. Dont do it ;)
10 was the first 'more yellow than green' 12 was proper yellow
Air gets ionized, conducts better. Same reason why you can stretch the spark on coin. Imho
You could stand on styrofoam to do tests with your body ungrounded. Jumping in the air could break your equipment or result in electric shock if you try jumping tests with other electrical equipment.
The foil does all the work, it is just a safety to use a transformer. Each direction looks like an easier pathway, but as soon the thin foil gets very hot, then it must take new paths, but each path gets too hot, so you actually see the lightening die, then it starts again. But the argon undergoes elementary fision, they showed it with neon, your smarter than me, i dont own one.
I think the increased attraction is from the presence of the other ball. Notice the change in the behavior of each ball after your touch.
Put one finger on the ball and one finger on earth you see it travels through the glass alright
When I was 13 I found that if I put aluminum foil over the ball it would shock me with enough power to make a small arc like you showed.
What did you do with the camera that it started showing yellow instead of green?
If you think those sparks hurt. Try using your thumb nail. The spark will run alone your thumb nail but not be conducted to it.
Ok question what happens if you hug a plasma ball not literally hug it but get most of your body mass right next to that electric field does it not want to flow to you in that instance 🤔
more attractive than a brick. good to know...
Accuracy of movement Strength magnet
PSA: DONT USE THESE NEAR A COMPUTER OR PHONE, THEY ARE VERY GOOD ANTENNAS
If you keep using this music I'm going to keep switching from you straight to La beast
I picked 12
White Danes can jump
I didn't kno Electroboom had a son
As a kid I had fun burning things by putting aluminium foil on top of the ball.
I accidentally discovered it as a kid and started burning leaves with it, probably not the brightest idea but hey I'm still here
Immensely satisfying, though I have to say that amber laser is absolutely gorgeous.
The radiator has paint on it. Not a good ground.
Quite amazing, specially when you jumped 😉
11 was the most yellow
I was between 12 and 13, but like many others I ultimately chose 13.
I say oooooooh Monster magnet space lord mutha mutha🎶🎶
Hey guys - what difference does divergence make to the width of the laser after it is expanded through a simple lens or mirror? If the divergence is 2 mRad for one laser and 4 mRad for another, will their spot size after expansion differ?
glass is friendly with wireless electricity
darn , someone bothered testing with isolated wire . Congrat . Now you know what false signal is
I hope*
What happens if you put your finger through it?
With the cracks in the base of the ferropaint, I'm thinking it'd be interesting to put some multicolor LEDS under it in a box/stand and then a glass cover.
ah yes, i remember leaving pennies on these at every hotel that had them, gave nice shock to who ever went to pick it up.
I felt the 20 Hz in my bones while wearing cheap earbuds 🥶
Would wearing thick rubber boots have a similar effect to jumping? With that in mind, if connected to something ungrounded for a long enough time, would it eventually stabilize, or would it serve as an "energy dump" indefinitely? The fact that, when you jumped, a few stray strands of filament wandered off makes me wonder.
More power - modern car ignition coils or the high voltage cascades for CRTs.
9:37 you were never grounded to the radiator. you put your wire over painted metal
